Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Good store-bought hot fudge is hard to find so why not make a batch at home? This Homemade Hot Fudge is out of this world delicious. It's my mother-in-law's family recipe and my husband grew up eating it. It's definitely his most requested recipe and while I usually only make it on special occasions, it hits the spot every time.
This sauce is thick, decadent and goes perfectly on top of ice cream, brownies, fruit, you name it. It's also really good by the spoonful and that's my MIL's favorite way to eat it. ;) The best part is, it's super easy to make as well. Anyone can do it I promise!

Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Serves 10

1/4 cup butter

1/3 cup cocoa

1/3 cup boiling water

1 cup sugar

2 Tbsp. corn syrup

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1/8 tsp. salt

1. Pour 1 cup of water into a small pot on the stove on high heat and bring to a boil. (Water will evaporate so you want to start with extra. You can also use a kettle or microwave some water.) Set aside.

2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add cocoa and stir until combined.

3. Add 1/3 cup boiling water gradually, stirring constantly. Heat mixture until boiling.

4. Add sugar and corn syrup, stirring until dissolved.

5. Simmer for 5-7 minutes and remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and salt. Serve hot over ice cream, brownies, etc.
